,I've recently returned from Novacon 47, a literary Sci-fi conference in Nottingham. Their guest of honour was Adrian Tchaikovsky who sported the same FantasyCon bag which I received in Brighton 5 years ago. It seems he and I were at the same event. I didn't sell many books, but I learnt a great deal and met lots of interesting people. IT was more a regional Conference with many individuals attending for 20 - 30 years. Their children had been conceived there it seems and it seemed very much a family event. I felt a bit of an outsider. The dealer room wasn't so much, with only 6 of us, 5 of us selling and signing books. The hotel was great and so was the food, but I was gutted a forgot my cossie to have a swim. I learnt a lot about what Conferences to consider next and what sells. Every conference gives out free tote bags so my long handled tote bags didn't sell, but my cups did. (lesson 1 learnt.) I couldn't even give away the free magnetic book marks. I'm continuing with Nanowrimo, but struggling. I'm at 20,000+ when I should be at 26,000. That's 6,000 down and likely to be 12,000 in 15 days if I don't get my finger out. I'm doing the Winter craft fair at the Winter Gardens Sunday 19th if anyone's interested. I'll probably write there.
