Just a quick post to remind folk who want to:
The majority of my work will be on sale tomorrow at the huge Nostalgic Craft Fair being held at the Grand Hotel in Folkestone from 10 to 4pm. This includes: Witch on the Warpath - which is available at Waterstones etc Red Anthology - which is also available via Amazon Teller of Tales - the Soroptimist Anthology of Short Stories. Voices in Verses - the Soroptimist Anthology of Poetry. Underworld is only available via Kindle, or in hard copy as part of the Fire Dance Anthology Vol 1 on Amazon. After these dates you will need to order any of my work via Waterstones/Amazon or my website.

Frustrated at not being able to do much over the Easter holidays to update the on-line sites regarding availability, I've decided to pop a few copies on Ebay to sell, for those of you who don't live nearby and would like a copy.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/182532565510?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1558.l2649 Of course, the best option is for EVERYONE who would like a copy to head into Waterstones and order one. You won't have to pay postage that way, but it might take a while longer - if you're not in a huge hurry it might create demand which what I need. I'm creating a dent where I'm banging my head against the wall. Maybe I'll write about a bulldozer next. I've been perusing awards sites today, in between cooking the roast, it's fascinating. In just about every category or site I miss out their criteria by one element, "your work cannot be published," "your work must be published before 2015," "your work must be published between Jan and Dec 2016," "your work must be within two years of publication," "your work must be aimed at the north American market," "your anthology must be the work of one author," "your work must be published by a corporate publisher," "your work must have sold 10,000 copies," (some chance!) I did manage to find one I was eligible for and it closed 31st March! On the upside of the 2 copies I've sold, I had feedback from one reader of Aquasapien saying she couldn't put it down. What every writer wants to hear, thanks kind reader. IT'S HERE! Honestly! I have several hundred copies in my hot sweaty hands. Well, they're not really hot and sweaty because that would damage the paper, but they are here. The problem is - how do I get them OUT THERE? Aquasapien - Metamorphosis is registered on Nielsen with the correct ISBN number (so is the Red Anthology). A copy is held in the British Library in London too. I've checked everything, I've dotted the proverbial 'i's and 't's. It says 'available' and 'in stock' so surely something must happen? But no, on Amazon and Waterstones etc. it says 'unavailable and they've no idea when it will be in stock. IT'S HERE! Do you ever get the feeling you're missing something? Like a left leg or something? That's how I feel at this moment, like I've forgotten to do something and I don't know what it is. How am I supposed to sell books if none of the Big Boys will admit that I have them. They really are printed. I've sold 2, so I know they exist. Meanwhile, I'm finally having a book launch and signing at Canterbury Library on Saturday 20th May from 10am till 4pm. Please come along if you would like to purchase a signed copy, otherwise go and hound Waterstones or WH Smith. I would, but I think they are sick of seeing my face. I'm sure the staff behind the tills duck down and cringe hoping I won't speak to them, but I do. I lost my dignity after Witch on the Warpath was published. You know sometimes I feel like a loose woman trying to sell her soul. I bet it would be a darn sight easier than selling novels. I feel like a leper, or Molly Malone trying to sell her god awful mussels, but that's the rub, I don't think my novel is awful. How will I ever know, if no one ever reads one, or puts a review somewhere - on Amazon or Goodreads would be great - yes that was a hint. See no dignity what-so-ever. I need to consider how to sell books, when the BB's won't. Ideas on a postcard to: She Writes in Vain, [email protected] It's official! Aquasapien is here! Publication date 1st April - today. Feeling gutted as Waterstones has decided not to let me launch in their stores. Also my employer requested I didn't do a launch in Thanet either. This means I have hundreds of books at home going nowhere. I desperately need my friends and fellow readers to go into WH Smiths, and particularly Waterstones (And Amazon if you are around the world), and order my novel. It costs £9.99 and has 468 pages so it is good value for the money, even if I don't get much percentage-wise personally. Maybe then Waterstones will consider stocking it and ask me in for a signing and I can sign copies for you. You can also stop me and buy one. I'm keeping copies in my car, so maybe I should become a mobile book shop? If you know of anyone who runs a venue I could use like a coffee shop etc, and would be happy to have lots of folk come along (outside of Thanet) please let me know. Please help me, a struggling author get the big boys to take notice despite me not being a celebrity or famous author - yet. I would love it if you could share this post and reach as many folk as possible. |
