I fell in love with books running the school library at both primary and secondary school. At eleven, I discovered the world of Science Fiction. My first Sci-Fi read was Isaac Asimov’s – Foundation series. From there I read all the classics including Brain Aldiss, Ray Bradbury, Theodore Sturgeon and Michael Morcock to name but a few. Though my favourite, without a doubt was E.E. Doc Smith, I have all his books.
Over the years, my taste has expanded to include the genre of fantasy visiting the worlds of Terry Pratchett, Robin Hobb etc and later still the paranormal fiction starting with the on-line author Connie Suttle. In between, I've dabbled with loads of teen fiction including Darren Shan, Skulduggery Pleasance and Dragon books by the score.
I began writing my own novels when my son was four whilst reading an Anne McCaffrey Pern novel as he played. In a moment of insight I wondered, “Why am I reading someone else’s work when I could be writing my own instead?” Since then I've written seven novels, from contemporary fantasy and adult Sci-Fi, to traditional fantasy and under-fives stories. I remain an avid reader, reading 1 to 3 books a day if left alone, which doesn't happen often enough.
I've tried getting an agent and/or a publisher so far without success over the last ten years - though I'd love them to take an interest. I have written several more novels, but with limited finances to publish independantly these remain a vision of my future and rely on my own book sales, which in turn rely on readers leaving reviews on Amazon, Goodreads or my own Estore site.
